Guidance from Local Authority, Welsh Government and Public Health Wales
I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that Flintshire schools are regularly receiving guidance on managing the coronavirus, COVID-19 from the Local Authority, Welsh Government and Public Health Wales.
Schools are being asked to highlight the following advice to parents, guardians and carers in order to minimize the risk of transmission.
1. Wash hands regularly with soap and water or a disinfectant, especially after coughing and sneezing, before handling and consuming food.
2. Use disposable tissues when coughing or sneezing and dispose of used tissues carefully and promptly.
3. Avoid close contact with people who appear unwell and avoid sharing personal items.
4. Avoid visiting live bird and animal markets, backyard or commercial poultry farms and do not touch wild or domestic birds (alive or dead).
5. Avoid any contact with animals, birds or surfaces that may be contaminated with animal or bird droppings.
6. Do not eat or handle undercooked or raw meat including poultry, egg or duck dishes.
7. There is no vaccine against this novel coronavirus-COVID-19. The full guidance can be found on the Welsh Government website at the following link:

I would recommend that you check this link regularly as this is a developing situation.

To maintain confidentiality for all we have introduced a Confidential Post Box for Late Slips and Signing Out Slips. This is situated where the old Late Book and Signing Out Book were.
If your child arrives at school after school starts at 08.50am please complete a Late Slip and post in the box. These slips are important in tracking attendance.
If your child leaves school during the school day, please complete a Signing Out Slip and post in the box. These slips are important in the event of a fire etc.
This post box is kept locked at all times and only opened by a member of staff. This new procedure will start from Monday 18th June 2018.
Please also ensure you are signed up to Schoop, this is where the majority of our information is sent out and particularly useful to update you on last minute things should as the cancellation of an After School Club or Sports Day etc.
Thank you for your co-operation.

The Governing Body of Queensferry CP School have decided that, as of 1st March 2018, any requests for the above will incur a voluntary contribution to the School Fund:
School Fund exists to provide additional materials and opportunities to enhance the learning experiences of the children. The fund is used to provide items over and above those provided through the school’s delegated budget.
You may have seen the increased number of contractors/workers on the John Summers High School site, I can confirm that the contractor Kier have moved onto the high school site to start work to demolish the high school building.
Survey work and work to prepare the building needs to be completed before demolition of the high school can start; we will keep you updated on progress.
To ensure the health and safety for all concerned, we will not be able to allow access through the high school car park from the Travis Perkins footpath (if you cross the playing fields) from 9th January 2018, if you do cross the fields after this date you will not be able to get to the primary school. May I suggest that children either walk up Westminster Crescent and then up North Street if they walk to school on their own or down to the main road and along the pavement turning right into the entrance for school but only if accompanied by a parent/carer.
Theatr Clwyd was selected as the only venue in North East Wales to host the Queens Baton relay on its tour of the Commonwealth before the Gold Coast Games next year.
During a journey lasting a total of 388 days, the baton, which carries a message from Her Majesty the Queen to participating athletes, will be carried by a relay of runners and visit every part of the Commonwealth until it arrives in Gold Coast City for the opening ceremony on April 4 next year.
Flintshire baton bearers include Flint’s golden girl and taekwondo double Olympic champion Jade Jones and Shotton Paralympian Beverley Jones.
The baton arrived at 5.30pm to a baton parade from children and teens from ten Flintshire primary schools, co-ordinated by New Dance, a dance development organisation that works with Flintshire dancers.
We were so proud of our boy’s dance group who put on an amazing performance in front of the entrance to Theatr Clwyd. They worked incredibly hard with Jamie Jenkins from New Dance for just two mornings before the actual event. Well done everyone!
Twelve children (and three adults!) enjoyed a visit to McDonalds and the cinema at Broughton Park on Tuesday to celebrate the children who achieved 25 Golden Tickets this year. Everyone had an amazing time but a special thanks must go to Arriva Wales who very kindly took us there and brought us back again for free. It was very much appreciated.
